The blood tests cover these key areas:
Oestrogen – main female hormone produced by ovaries ​
Luteinising hormone (LH) – produced by the brain and involved with ovulation during the reproductive cycle ​
Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) – produced by the brain and involved with maturing eggs during the reproductive cycle ​
(Both LH and FSH rise to high levels during menopause)
Testosterone – normally a small amount produced by ovaries ​
Sex hormone binding globulin – controls level of active testosterone​
