I am Sandra, a Nutritionist at Dr Martin – Private General Practitioners.
For many years, I could not understand how certain health approaches may work for one person but don’t necessarily yield the same results in others. This led me to embark upon a BSc in Human Nutrition from the University of Westminster, which I graduated with with First-class Honours. I furthered this with a Masters in Clinical Research (Human Nutrition) from Imperial College London with Distinction, and additional qualifications in Phlebotomy and Personal Training.
I am a strong advocate in considering evidence-based data and a person’s individual characteristics – their age, gender, ethnicity and lifestyle. In my practice, I like to use “gold-standard” diagnostics to understand an individual thoroughly and work closely with our wonderful team of general practitioners, enhancing the level of diagnostic precision, ensuring that every lifestyle intervention is backed by medical expertise and real-time biological data.
I am passionate about optimising health, so my patients can remain high performing throughout every life stage. I believe nutrition is the cornerstone of this journey, but for it to be truly effective, it must be sustainable.
I am dedicated to translating complex science into simple, actionable strategies that respect the importance of enjoying food, ensuring that your nutritional path is not only clinically precise but also fits seamlessly and joyfully into your daily life.
I have a background in fitness and wellness industries, a doctor-led weight-loss clinic and clinical research studying a novel gut hormone that belongs to the appetite-regulating hormone network. This has equipped me with the ability to see the bigger picture.
What I call “my happiness foundation” is good food, good exercise and good people around me. I enjoy discovering new dishes and practising what I preach by staying active through boxing, running and yoga. My creative outlets include crocheting and re-learning to sing. I also enjoy expanding my mind by travelling and continuous learning.
